I do not often fixate on the headlines because it can cause me to be overwhelmed by evil. It should come as no surprise when the Prince of Peace, the Author of Truth, and the Giver of Life is rejected that a nation would be appearing lost and confusing.  Life has become disposable when it is divorced from the truth that we were created in the image of God. Even now, states allowing abortion up to birth and thinking children are a nuisance underline the devaluation of life. 

Lyndsey Graham choked to death her three young children with a sports band. Two of her children might have even watched her murder their siblings. She has a celebrity status with many. Luigi Mangione is on trial for possibly shooting to death the CEO of a healthcare company and father of small children on the streets of NY.  Some people wear Luigi & Mario t-shirts to celebrate his "cause". Finally, Charlie Kirk's accused murderer stated he hated the message of Mr. Kirk and felt it was okay to silence it.  Many in the press or society applauded his death and mocked his widow.

Behind all of these murder trials there is about 20% of the country who support killing when they disagree with someone.  What was once wrong or hateful for centuries in humanity is now seen as right and just. There is a chasm between light and dark, right and wrong, good and evil. Usually each moral post mortem demonstrates it starts with seemingly small actions that lead to great consequences.

For instance, the push for gay and lesbian acceptance was sold as loving and kind. Instead of using God's truth to address this drift in society Christians acquiesced to pressure not wanting to be hated or misunderstood. The movement never stops there, it demands total acceptance o or the attacks of homophobia and hate are used to quiet dissent. Finally, a call to eliminate opposing thought and silence others leads to the devaluing of life in those who oppose the new cultural realignment. Killing then becomes viable. Life is disposable when it is an inconvenient. The acceptance of abortion will inevitably lead to beginning to question the value of the elderly or disabled being a nuisance to some.  Life is disposable when disagreements cannot be silenced and opposing views are no longer tolerated. 

As followers of Christ we must be cognizant that Christianity is seen as divisive, close-minded, and archaic ways of thinking. If we stay quiet, do not oppose, and go along with cultural decay we will be tolerated, but for how long? We are at a time in our country's history where the growth of persecution should not come as a surprise.  Much of society now accepts things that God says is evil and wrong. The biblical principles and arguments for godly living look like hate speech and insanity to a growing group of people.

So, what does a surrendered follower of Christ do? Does arguing with insanity and spiritual darkness further truth and societal change like it once did? Is the public square still open to conversation and questioning or has that time passed? Are there fibers that still hold this society together with Christians roots or have the moth weakened them beyond repair?

This is no longer theoretical it is reality. If Christians follow the same methodology of going silent or placidly accepting evil and sin, how can we expect the blessings and power of God be in our churches?  To agree with and be friend of this world draws us further from the will of God in heaven our true home. In spiritual warfare there is no such thing as bystanders but casualties when the church remains silent or allows evil to be called good. Unless we spend time in prayer closets, meditation on God's Word, and time in faith community we will not be ready for the societal drift that is quickening. We must not fear but be strong and courageous in the Lord. Jesus said not even the gates of hell can stand against His church. Together in Victory...
